Calming Down

I've been back in Canada for a couple of weeks now, my Australia teaching tour having wrapped up about three weeks ago. I taught in five places, three of which were new venues for me, got to Tasmania for the first time, taught in Melbourne where I haven't taught in almost 10 years, and lost track of how many students! Not gonna lie, I was boned tired at the end of it all, the kind of tired that keeps emotions at the surface and a normal night's sleep doesn't seem to do much. Add in the concern about the earthquakes near Santorini and I was a very overwhelmed gal.

Jetlag on top of this type of tiredness was a bit of a worry for me, but in this instance, it turned into a boon—I forced myself to stay up until 10pm the night of my arrival, and ended up sleeping 12 hours solid--something I haven't done in probably 10 years. This luckily basically did a reboot of my body and I mostly avoided ongoing jet lag, and it helped to diminish my pervasive weariness.

Now I'm picking away at my large to-do list, as there's always a lot to do when I'm in Canada. I'm trying to get as much done in the first few weeks of my 7 week stay so that I can relax and enjoy a few gatherings at the end of the month—it's a BIG birthday year for me, and I'm hoping to greet a new decade with a degree of grace and calmness.

The other thing that seems to be calming down are those earthquakes. They are still happening, but in far fewer numbers and of lesser magnitude. I can breathe more easily knowing that the people I love there are safe, especially my Kosta who arrived there about 10 days ago to get his restaurant ready for the tourist season. With that in mind, I'm reopening registrations for my 2025 Santorini mosaic workshops! So if you've been waiting to hear whether or not things are likely to proceed, let me know and I'll get you registered.
