When people think of spirals, often the words used are negative, as in a metaphorical downward spiral, be it due to bad luck, poor behaviour, mental or physical health challenges, relationships, and more. I know I've been through my share of downward spirals in my life, and I'm sure that most of you reading this can relate. Luckily for me, and hopefully for you too, there is usually an upward spiraling that follows the downward spiral. People often compare life to a rollercoaster, but maybe it's actually more like another amusement part ride: the Swings. You know the one, you're strapped into a chair hanging from chains, then as the ride starts, you spin slowly around, swinging out from the centre post as the chairs spiral upwards. Building momentum, you go faster and faster, then reach the top, then coast along at that pinnacle for sometime. But inevitably, the ride begins to slow, and you spiral down again until the momentum ceases and you reach the botttom, coming to a stop. As a kid, I'd immediately get off, run around to the line to get back on again, and go for another ride. As an adult, I probably now do this in life.

Luckily, I feel like I'm in an upward spiral these days, and I'm definitely enjoying the ride. If you're on the upward spiral too, I hope you're delighting in every minute. And if you're in a downward one, may your landing be soft, and the upward momentum begin again soon.
