Hard Work

12mm by 12mm - Mosaic gold in sterling silver
$110 USD

One thing I've learned living in Greece, is that dang, do they ever work hard. Most of the workers in tourism work every single day for 5 to 7 months straight, in many cases over 8 hours a day. My guy—albeit a business owner—works more like 12-14 hours a day. I quite honestly don't know how they do it. I get that if you've grown up where that is the norm, it becomes normal and doable. But to this Canadian coming from outside that cultural milieu, it seems absolutely insane. Unbelieveably, they still give good service, are still helpful, and the younger ones still have energy to go party at night.

Now, some of the workers do take the whole winter off, living off money saved during season, but some of them do take a winter job, which I can't fathom. And with the cost of living rising here like everywhere else, I think more and more will not feel they can take the much deserved time off after such a long summer of work.

If you'd like to come to Greece and witness the amazingness of the people here, please consider joining me for one of my Santorini workshops
