Canola Fields
I'm not often in Alberta at this time of year, and even less likely to be leaving the city (Edmonton) to drive into the country. Yesterday, however, I had the absolute delight to drive on prairie roads for five hours. What makes driving in my home province at this time of year so magical? The yellow canola fields, pure and simple.
I've seen canola fields hundreds of times, yet they always takes my breath away. It seems impossible that nature can create something so saturated in colour. The yellow is so bright it almost hurts the eyes. And when contrasted witt the green fields around them, and the enormous blue Alberta sky, the visual mix is nothing short of stunning.
