Be Grateful

I was not comfortable summing up my advice to just one small morsel, and so once I'd dispensed the first bit of advice for life, I carried on.
"Be grateful."
Even if things aren't exactly what you want, practice gratitude all the time. When you are grateful for what you do have, you will get more of "the good stuff". If you dwell on the negative, you get more of that. I have yet to meet one person who has said that regularly noticing what they are grateful for was not useful. Almost everyone suggests it contributes to happiness and emotional well being.
That's not to say this is always easy, or a magic bullet. Some days are just crappy, and it can be hard to find something or someone for which to be grateful. Add in that I'm a bit of an overanalyser, so sometimes get fixated on the negative, which then makes me upset with myself, and then the self berating starts, and a messy downward spiral ensues. When I can though, I try to pull back and remind myself of all the things I DO have to be grateful for, and that can offer some real peace.
Because dang, I have so much to be grateful for.
