I come from a country where much of the time is spent indoors. Winter and other inclement weather send everyone scurrying for the comfort of buildings with central heating. Most people work indoors. Life is lived inside.

I have come to prefer the lifestyle I experience in other places. Here in Greece, life is lived outside. You wake up, and the first thing you do is go outside. There's no reason to stay in. The restaurants are all outside, the bars, the life. Even the movie theatre is outside, open air. Inside is for sleeping and not much else. Everything happens out of doors, in public. The things that we normally do inside happen outside. It's a freer, more relaxed way of living. There's something honest about it. It feels like life is lived unabashedly out loud.
