Grape to Glass

In addition to tourism, one of the major industries on Santorini is wine production. They grow several varieties of unusual grapes that aren’t grown elsewhere, like Assertiko and Mavrotragano. I have not made it to all of the 13 wineries on the island, but I may try! As Santorini is volcanic (the current shape of the island comes from a cataclysmic eruption that occurred around 1660 BCE), the soil is very alkaline, resulting in very mineral-y, acidic wines. I doubt these wines would taste nearly as good anywhere else in the world. Here though, it pairs beautifully with the food.
This pendant pays homage to the beautiful, green grapes and vines that can be seen growing all over the island.
